"Murder on the Left Bank" is the 18th book of the private investigator Aimée Leduc Series from the New York Times bestselling author Cara Black. A young man who carries a notebook from an old accountant containing the identity of criminals and illegal activities by the dirty cops is murdered and the notebook is found missing. The uncle of the young man pleads with Aimée Leduc for investigation but she is reluctant to do so as her father is murdered by the same syndicate as implicated by the notebook. More seriously, her dead father’s name might appear in the notebook. Eventually she takes the case when the murderer threatens her daughter.
Similar to previous Aimée Leduc series, the author demonstrates the attractive sights and ancient buildings in the story. I enjoy the detailed descriptions of different areas of Paris especially on the city's lesser-known corners. More focus is put on the mystery surrounding the death of Aimée Leduc’s father and the status of her mother. Moreover, I am also fantasized by the chic, charming character and the fashion outfits of the woman private investigator.
When reading the novel, I feel like watching a dramatic and intense movie with entertaining mystery rather than reading the words. I hope there will be more new stories to come in this series.
